About Hardcore Casuals
Values and Story behind HC

Where it started?
Before Hardcore Casuals (HC) was formed, I was a member of another dance program called Weekend Warriors. HC did not have a name to itself. I just met a lot of new friends through dance and commit at least a few hours every weekend to advance my dancing. To me, it was great, but that wasn't enough so I started practicing alone in Robson Square. As I progress in my dance journey, some of my friends were inspired and motivated to join me in my extra training so we did. We were committed to meet and dedicate time to hone our dance skills regularly despite being non-professional dancers. As we started to meet up regularly on weekend mornings (Sunday Saturday 9am at robson square near the red coil), people started to form deeper bonds and closer relationships with each other through knowledge sharing. We started to hang out together more often, take dance classes together, practice in public spaces together, join dance events together and freestyle together. the Weekend Warriors program was the soil for HC to grow and I'm extremely grateful to be a part of the WW family.
When did it became HC?
This little community started to attract more dancers with different levels of experience and grew even bigger. In addition to my weekend warrior program friends, I met other dancers from other dance progressives, dance classes, street dancers and invited them to practice together as well. We started to share what we learnt, exchange knowledge and hang out even more. As HC kept growing, more people start to learn about HC and the values and mission attached to it. HC's existence has made significant contribution to improve people's dance experiences in its own way. Therefore, I believe it deserves its own name and space to grow. Since people who usually come are passionate dance lovers with other types of jobs, yet desire to dance better and not just do it for fun, I gave it the name - Hardcore Casuals.
Everyone may be at a different stage in their dance journeys, but that doesn't hinder people from coming together and enjoying dancing together. Hardcore Casuals is a community for any dancers with a growth mindset, wants to become better at dance, wants to have a sense of belonging in a dancer friends group, and is willing to put in the work and self-discipline to improve oneself.
